Upon completing pupillage, Kristian practised in London for 6 years before moving to the North East in 2004. He joined Parklane Plowden Chambers in 2015.

He has a strong practice working in the fields of personal injury, credit hire, employment, costs disputes, Court of Protection, Inquests, family and financial mis-selling.

Kristian was a member of the team of Lawyers who represented soldiers at the Bloody Sunday Inquiry.

Court custody officers responsible for supervising a suicidal prisoner who hanged himself with his own shoelaces.

Young driver who killed himself and 3 friends as they were returning home from a night out.

Parents of a young man who committed suicide after being allowed to escape from a mental health care unit at a local hospital.

Nurses at a local prison involved in the care of an inmate prior to his death following a cardiac arrest whilst asleep in his cell.

Wife of a man who died after suffering a DVT. Out of hours GP failed to correctly diagnose the condition or pass on important information, which led to a significant delay in obtaining treatment.

Kristian accepts instructions to represent Defendants in relation to financial mis-selling claims, especially those involving the alleged payment of secret/half-secret commissions.

Regularly instructed to represent claimants and defendants at CCMC’s and other cost related hearings and detailed assessments.

 

Kristian is a member of the Insurance team dealing with all aspects of insurance disputes in particular credit hire issues.

Representing the interests of claimants, defendants and third parties in hundreds of credit hire claims, both at first instance and on appeal.

He successfully resisted applications for 3rd party disclosure orders in respect of cross-hire documents upon the basis that such documents were not relevant to the issues between the parties and the defendant’s suspicions about the contents of such documents were unsupported by credible evidence.

Successfully appealed against a decision to order specific disclosure of cross-hire documents upon the basis that such documents were not within the control of the claimant and were not relevant to issues between the parties.

Kristian has experience in representing both Claimants and Respondents in a variety of employment law cases, including those alleging unfair dismissal, wrongful dismissal, equal pay, and discrimination.

Outstanding court advocacy skills and sensitive handling of witnesses both in and out of court, means that our team are in demand. Many have been involved in high profile cases and we are adept at handling media interest in cases.

We offer a continuity of representations from inquests through to any civil actions for damages arising post-inquest. This helps foster strong barrister-client relationships to ensure the best possible outcome.

The majority of his Court of Protection work involves Section 21A and Section 16 applications, but he is happy to consider accepting instructions in relation to any matter that falls within the jurisdiction of the Court of Protection.

Kristian accepts instructions to represent parents, grandparents, children, local authorities, and other interested parties in Children Act proceedings.”
