About Neil

Neil is our Chief Executive . He joined us in March 2011. He has previously worked as Director of Finance for two solicitors’ practices. He is a chartered accountant and worked with Deloitte in Leeds and London. He is responsible for managing the operational and administrative functions of chambers.

About Michael

Michael has over 25 years as a barristers clerk in both Manchester and Newcastle. After relocating to the North East in 2003, he worked as business development manager in a medico legal firm before joining Plowden Chambers as senior clerk in 2005. Following the successful merger, where Michael was one of driving forces behind the link he joined Andy Gray as Joint Senior Clerk to Parklane Plowden. He is committed to meeting clients’ needs, being responsive to the market, and working with clients to provide pragmatic solutions to the engagement of barristers and fee structures. He is also involved in the marketing and development of Parklane Plowden Chambers. He is a fully qualified member of the institute of Barristers Clerks.

Michael is predominately based at our Newcastle office.

Michael was awarded "Practice Manager of the Year" for the 2010 Eclipse Proclaim Personal Injury Awards.

Outside of work Michael enjoys family time, football, both watching (an avid Manchester United Fan and Season Ticket Holder) and playing, fine food and wine.

About Andy

Andy has been a clerk in chambers for over 20 years and became Senior Clerk to Park Lane Chambers in 2004. He was again an integral part in the merger of the two sets. He is based at the Leeds office and his particular specialities include extensive knowledge of costs arguments relating to barrister’s fees.

Outside chambers his interests are golf (still playing), football and cricket (sadly no longer playing).

About Jason

Jason has been clerking since 1988 having previously worked in Park Court Chambers, Leeds. He joined Parklane Plowden chambers (formerly Pearl Chambers) in 1992.

He is an invaluable senior member of the Clerking teams with his 22 years of experience covering many areas of chambers specialism. He deals with all aspects of Chambers civil practioners. In addition Jason is the treasurer to the North Eastern Baristerss Clerks Mess.

Outside of Chambers he enjoys most sports, running, reading fiction and cooking.

About Sharon

Sharon started working in Barristers Chambers in 1985 as an office assistant and has worked through various clerking roles over the last 25 years varying from junior clerk to Senior Criminal Clerk. Based in Newcastle throughout she has an excellent knowledge of the local bar and legal community.

Time away from chambers is spent with her family, including 2 children, friends, shopping, holidays in the sun and long country walks with her labradoodle.

About Mark

Mark graduated in 2000 with a degree in Law. He joined Park Lane Chambers as the Family Team clerk in March 2002.

Mark is Senior Clerk to the family team and regular recipient of plaudits from Solicitors for his awareness and knowledge of his team and specialism. He has continued to expand and strengthen one of the highest regarded specialist teams on the North Eastern circuit.

Mark has a BTEC in Advanced Chambers Administration.

Away from the rat race Mark is a avid Leeds United Supporter, has a keen interest in formula one and attends the gym on a regular basis.

About Laura

Laura has worked in Barristers Chambers since 2006. She joined Parklane Plowden in 2008 and is a valuable member of the Civil Clerking Teams.

Blessed with a very quick and cheeky sense of humour, increased by coffee, Laura has developed a good rapport with clients.

Outside of work she attends rock concerts and festivals, shopping, cooking, boxing, going to the gym and reading but not all in the same day!

About Louise

Louise joined chambers in 2006 as an office assistant and was quickly promoted to Junior Civil Clerk. She is a highly motivated member of the team and currently studying for a BTEC in Advanced  Chambers Administration.

About Wendy

Wendy started her career as a Fees Administrator in 1990 at York Chambers following a 12 year career in the Army, joining Parklane Plowden in 2005.

 

Away from Chambers she enjoys gardening, Formula One, reading and camping.

Facilities

Our Chambers in Leeds and Newcastle are located in the heart of the legal community in both cities. In Leeds, we are positioned directly opposite Leeds Combined Court Centre and close to the Family Court. In Newcastle, we are located just off the Quayside and the Tyne Bridge. There is both metered and multi storey car parking nearby.

We are able to offer a choice of air conditioned conference and meeting rooms, some of which are specifically adapted for disabled clients. We also have an induction hearing loop system in our Leeds office. Any disabled client wishing to discuss their specific requirements should contact chambers prior to their visit.

We have:
• The latest in video conferencing technology, DVD and telephone conference call facilities.
• Voice mail and direct e-mail addresses to ensure optimum communication.
• Comprehensive library of law reports, journals and electronic legal material.

Chambers is open between 8.30 a.m. – 6.00 p.m. on weekdays, except on Friday when we close at 5.30 p.m.

We recognise that the administration of Chambers is pivotal in ensuring we maintain and unparalleled service. Our clerks have an in depth knowledge of all members’ practices and can provide guidance in selecting the most appropriate counsel.

The Chief Executive and two Senior Clerks ensure the delivery of quality client care.
