Dominic Crossley

Dominic’s practice encompasses all aspects of chancery law with a particular focus on real property, and wills, probate and trusts.Dominic’s property practice covers disputes concerning adverse possession, easements, boundaries and covenants as well as disputes over co-ownership of land and claims under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996, and claims involving proprietary estoppel. He has a great deal of experience in the various property tribunals, in particular the Land Registration Division of the Property Chamber of the First-tier Tribunal, being the author of a book about the previous incarnation of the tribunal, the Adjudicator to HM Land Registry (published by Bloomsbury in 2013). Dominic also undertakes the full spectrum of commercial and residential landlord and tenant work.On the probate side Dominic’s practice includes disputes over the validity of wills, applications for removal or substitution of personal representatives, rectification claims, claims for the restitution of estate property and solemn form probate claims, and claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975. Dominic has also undertaken drafting work in the field of wills and probate. Dominic has experience with claims in the Court of Protection.Dominic also undertakes a range of commercial work, including contractual and tortious claims, sale of goods, debt, and claims for return of goods.Dominic regularly presents seminars on matters falling within his areas of specialty and his happy to discuss the provision of in-house training. Dominic recently took part in a day-long seminar dealing with all aspects of agricultural law.

Julia Nelson MCIArb

Julia is the head of the Family Team at Parklane Plowden Chambers.Specialising in Family Law for over 30 years, Julia has vast experience of dealing with a wide range of people and cases. Her practice includes all family finance work and children law disputes and she often represents clients in both disciplines.  Julia has a considerable record of success in contested cases and a fearsome reputation for cross-examination and uncovering concealed assets. Julia’s no-nonsense approach, enthusiasm and tenacity has earned her an enviable reputation with family solicitors.Julia also sits as an arbitrator in children law and accepts instructions for this via chambers. Julia is an experienced Private FDR practitioner and is available to provide early neutral evaluation (ENE).Julia has regularly represented Local Authorities and families in inquests. Julia is the former head of our Court of Protection team and although no longer practising in they area she has vast experience in dealing with cases where a party lacks capacity.Prior to joining PLP chambers in 2004 Julia practised as a specialist criminal and family law barrister from Broadway House Chambers for over 10 years during which time she undertook cases of the most serious nature including high profile murder and manslaughter cases.As well as a very busy barrister and mother of two, she is an experienced actress and regularly performs in theatre and immersive theatre. Julia is also a keen yoga practitioner, a gardener, an accomplished cook, and a previous winner of ‘Come Dine with Me!’

May Martin

May is a specialist employment law barrister. She is listed as a Rising Star in the Legal 500 and Up-and-Coming in Chambers &amp; Partners. She is described as 'excellent in court' and her submissions as 'exceptional'. Recent clients include Asda, Network Rail, Sky, and numerous NHS Trusts.May regularly appears in the Employment Tribunal for both preliminary and final hearings. She has significant experience with multi-day final hearings, substantive preliminary hearings, and remedy hearings. May has particular expertise in cases involving healthcare and public sector clients, including the NHS, as she completed a secondment at a leading solicitors' firm working almost exclusively with such clients, and has frequently represented such clients in the Tribunals since then. Recent work includes: <ul> <li> A 10-day disability discrimination case for a national telecommunications company;</li> <li> A 5-day disability discrimination case for the NHS;</li> <li> A 1-day preliminary hearing on employment status for a dental surgery;</li> <li> A 4-day race discrimination and unfair dismissal case for a national retailer;</li> <li> A 2-day remedy hearing where she successfully argued for re-engagement and back-pay.</li> </ul> &nbsp;<span style="font-size: 1rem;">May welcomes instructions to draft Grounds of Complaint and Grounds of Response. She regularly advises on liability in employment law matters and prides herself on her quick turnaround time for employment papers. </span>May has written for the ELA's Employment Law Briefing. She is happy to, and regularly does, provide training talks on employment law issues. She also accepts instructions to provide mock tribunals.In February 2025, May was appointed to the Attorney General's panel of regional counsel.
