Hannah is a busy and successful junior, who practises predominantly in Public/Administrative Law, Education Law and Court of Protection.
Hannah is appointed to the Attorney General’s regional C panel of counsel.
Hannah accepts instructions in both Health & Welfare and Property & Affairs cases.
Hannah is frequently instructed, as a C panelist, to act for the Office of the Public Guardian in Property & Affairs cases.
Hannah is also instructed on behalf of the Official Solicitor, by local authorities and by solicitors’ firms acting for individuals.
Connected with her Education practice, Hannah has a particular interest in COP proceedings concerning young adults with learning disabilities and SEND, and the interface between Education law and mental capacity issues.
Hannah has a successful Public Law practice, which is mainly, though not exclusively, focused on Education and Community Care challenges. Hannah represents individuals and public bodies in challenges to a wide range of decisions in these areas.
Hannah is ranked as a Leading Junior by the Legal 500 in Public/Administrative Law.
Hannah is often instructed to advise at a pre-action stage; and has a strong record of assisting clients to resolve disputes in their favour, without the need to issue proceedings.
Hannah receives instructions from local authorities, solicitors’ firms and, where appropriate, under the Public Access scheme.
Education law
Hannah has considerable expertise in Education law and works with solicitors’ firms and local authorities across the country. Hannah is ranked as a leading junior in Public/Administrative Law by the Legal 500; and described by that publication as a “specialist in special educational needs cases”.
Hannah acts for clients across the full range of Education-related disputes, including:
- Appeals before the First-Tier Tribunal (SEND) and Upper Tribunal related to Education, Health and Care Plans.
- Disability discrimination proceedings.
- Judicial Review claims (both claimant and defendant work, representing families, local authorities, individual schools and multi-academy trusts).
- Admissions and exclusion appeals.
Hannah provides training and legal advice to local authorities, Multi-Academy Trusts and private practice solicitors’ firms on Education law, with a particular focus on SEND, admissions, exclusions and judicial review.
Hannah’s knowledge of Court of Protection proceedings and Family proceedings is of assistance to many of her Education law clients; and she is often asked to provide advice on cases at the interface of these areas.
