Adoption, Best Interests, and the European Court of Human Rights Webinar on Wednesday 21st October 2020 at 5pm.

Dr Claire Fenton-Glynn, Senior Lecturer in Law at the University of Cambridge will discuss Adoption, Best Interests, and the European Court of Human Rights in the latest webinar in the Family Team 'Wine and Webinar' series.

The European Court of Human Rights has come a long way in its approach to children’s welfare in the field of child protection. From inauspicious beginnings, where children were referred to as “it”, children’s interests have developed from a peripheral concern to a central tenet of the Court’s jurisprudence. This talk will analyse the Court’s approach to children’s best interests through the lens of adoption of children from care, tracing the evolution from parental rights, to competing interests, and finally, to a recognition of the paramountcy of children’s welfare.

This webinar is a charity event and we are asking that attendees make a donation to the charity The Aire Centre.
