Coronavirus: Operational Statement (last updated 23/03/2020).

Parklane Plowden is proactively guarding against the risks posed by the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19). We continue to monitor the situation and follow advice issued by the Government and Public Health England and we will be updating this page as fresh information becomes available. As of 24th March 2020, both our Newcastle and Leeds Chambers premises will be closed until further notice and all barristers, clerks and staff will be working remotely. Last year we substantially invested in an improved IT system which supports smooth and secure remote working by everyone in chambers. We wish to reassure our solicitors and clients that our contingency plans enable is to continue to deliver our services. Conferences and Mediations In line with social distancing guidance, conferences, meetings and mediations will take place by telephone or via video until further notice. Multi-party telecons can be arranged through the appropriate clerk. Court Hearings The Government has stated that those “essential to the running of the justice system” are regarded as key workers. The judiciary has made provision for most civil and family cases to be heard remotely, with lawyers being required to take part in virtual hearings. We will continue to closely monitor this situation. Making a payment Wherever possible, please make all payments to members of Parklane Plowden Chambers via BACS Bank Transfer. Seminars, Conferences and Events It has been necessary for us to cancel several planned seminars, conferences and events. We hope to rearrange these as soon as the restrictions are lifted.
