Last year Newcastle held a collection for CashforKids and this year we would like to open up both Leeds and Newcastle Chambers to help support this fantastic charity.

It’s now less 2 months til Christmas – and our Mission is clear…

Once again, we are reaching out to ask for your support as we approach Christmas. Since 2020 life has been difficult for everyone and especially those living in poverty, this has been followed by the worst cost of living crisis we have seen in the past 50 years.

Sadly, latest figures from the End Child Poverty Coalition show that poverty has increased once again and in some of our local areas 1 in 3 children are living in poverty. These are children who will potentially wake up to nothing on 25th December – there will be NO letters to Santa, NO decorations, NO gifts under the tree and NO Christmas magic to believe in. Through our Mission Christmas appeal, Cash for Kids aim to change this and make Christmas Day the special day it should be… but we need your help. Last year we supported over 17,101 children thanks to the generosity of you, our wonderful supporters, but the reality is, that requests for our help continue to increase, especially because of the cost of living crisis we are all experiencing.

Unlike you and I, the families and children we support cannot reduce their outgoings, reduce food bills, cut out takeaways…they aren’t able to reduce sky packages, days out or cancel holidays… because they never had these luxuries to begin with! Families and children we support, are already living below the poverty line, depending on food banks, and charity to survive.

Our priority this year will be to support these families & children through Mission Christmas and our emergency appeal grants in the New Year.

We are once again encouraging supporters & businesses to consider making gift and cash donations which are a vital element of the appeal. A cash donation or fundraising will enable us to buy gifts and toys for those age ranges where we struggle and so we can continue to help the thousands of beneficiaries who rely on our support all year-round. Cash for Kids have relationships with suppliers who offer us discounts so we can buy bulk gifts at reduced costs. These can be delivered directly to us in time for Christmas Day.  Also, we will be able to provide ‘emergency appeal grants’ for these families, like food and warm clothing as the children we support have been the hardest hit by the cost of living crisis and continue to be so.

It’s now less than 2 months to Christmas and we need to be ready. There’s one simple question we’d like to ask you – how many children can you help this Christmas?

£10 could buy a gift for a child living in poverty
£50 could pay for a selection of gifts
£500 would go towards important sensory equipment

As increasing numbers of families are pushed into poverty this winter, we need your help more than ever. For many, Christmas will be a luxury that they simply cannot afford. Our mission is to ensure that we can still deliver a gift to children this Christmas or a basic essential grant for the months ahead.

So how can you help this Christmas?

  • Collect gifts and drop them off at either Leeds or Newcastle chambers

Together we can make great things happen this Christmas and share some Christmas magic with those who need it most!
