Lydia is a confident advocate with a keen interest in employment law. She acts for both employers and employees in preliminary and multi-day final hearings. She is detailed in her approach and enjoys being involved in the full spectrum of employment law matters.

Lydia also undertakes personal injury and clinical negligence work. She regularly advises on liability and quantum in a clear and precise manner. Lydia often appears in the County Court in fast track trials for Claimants and Defendants.

She puts clients at ease and prides herself on providing quality service standards. She is calm, prepared and efficient.

She acts pro bono in employment matters through Advocate, enabling her to be particularly sensitive to vulnerable clients. Lydia is committed to access to justice and her name is due to be published on the 2026 Pro Bono Recognition List of England and Wales.

Prior to pupillage, Lydia represented members at the Cleaners and Allied Independent Workers’ Union. She drafted pleadings, attended internal grievance hearings and assisted with preparation for final hearings.

Lydia has a busy employment tribunal practice. She is especially interested in discrimination and whistleblowing work.

She has had recent experience in:
– Successfully acting for a respondent in a disability-status hearing, striking out all claims;
– Successfully striking out a whistleblowing claim on day 2 of a 5-day hearing

She is familiar with proceedings in the Scottish Employment Tribunals, recently acting in 9-day and 6-day final hearings. This has ensured she enjoys both examination in chief, and cross examining on her feet. Her advocacy style is persuasive and controlled.

In additional to representation in tribunals, Lydia cuts through bundles and identifies key issues promptly in her advisory work. She drafts pleadings on all areas of employment law, including reconsideration.

Lydia provides written advice and schedules of loss in clinical negligence matters. She appeared for the Claimant in a High Court application for a birth-injury claim valued above £10 million.

She is comfortable conducting conferences with clients and experts. Her supervision from Hylton Armstrong and Anna Datta during pupillage has given her a sound understanding of complex clinical negligence matters.

Recent cases have involved:
– Negligent unilateral orchidectomy
– Incorrect administration of medication
– Delayed diagnosis in AVM stroke

Lydia accepts instructions for both Claimants and Defendants in all aspects of PI, including:
– Employer’s liability
– Occupiers’ liability
– Highways claims
– Civil fraud

She is also familiar with making applications per the Civil Procedural Rules.

She regularly advises on prospects and quantum. She has recently advised on a traumatic brain injury with a potential provisional damages award.
