Megan is a specialist personal injury, clinical negligence and inquests barrister. She was listed as a “rising star” for both personal injury and clinical negligence in the 2024 Legal 500. Her solicitors say: “Megan is highly knowledgeable. She prepares meticulously and communicates in a clear and concise manner. Her advocacy is understated and excellent”. In 2021, an Assistant Coroner said: “[Megan’s] command of the material and the focus of her questioning was very impressive. Certainly, I have seen counsel of many more years call make a far less effective job of far more straightforward inquests”.

Megan accepts instructions from claimants and defendants in a wide range of injury claims in both liability admitted and disputed matters. Megan’s clinical negligence experience includes claims involving obstetric injury, surgical negligence, cosmetic procedures, orthopaedic injury, infant and fatal claims. Megan’s practice involves working at the beginning of a claim through to trial or settlement, including drafting pleadings, advising on prospects and quantum, attending expert and client conferences, CCMCs and JSMs.

Before joining Chambers Megan worked as a catastrophic injury paralegal at a top ranked law firm in The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners focusing on brain and spinal cord injury cases. She was graded as ‘Outstanding’ at bar school and achieved the highest grade nationally at the University of Law.

Megan is a very capable junior and accepts instructions on behalf of claimants and defendants. She will advise on both liability and quantum and undertake court work including associated inquests at an early stage.

A large part of Megan’s pupillage focused on clinical negligence work. This, along with her catastrophic injury experience, means she is comfortable with a range of medical issues. Her experience includes: orthopaedic surgery, obstetrics, diabetes and emergency medicine claims. She also has experience in mediation and regularly advises on and attends infant approval hearings.

Megan accepts instructions for inquests in a variety of fields, but her primary interest is healthcare related deaths as this compliments her clinical negligence practice well. She has acted for families at inquests and is currently a member of AvMA.

During pupillage, Megan also gained experience of drafting high value schedules of loss with multiple dependency claims.
