Oliver has a growing practice specialising in personal injury, clinical negligence, credit hire and inquests.

Oliver acts for both claimants and defendants across all tracks. He has a busy court practice and provides representation at hearings including trials, applications and CCMCs.

He also regularly advices in conference with both clients and experts, drafts pleadings, and advises on liability, quantum, and next steps.

Oliver has experience in drafting pleadings and written advice in clinical negligence matters for both claimants and defendants. He has also conducted conferences with clients and experts.

Examples of his recent instructions include:

  • Delayed diagnosis of a scaphoid fracture
  • Negligent withdrawal of anti-epileptic medication
  • Surgical negligence claims
  • Dental negligence claims
  • Claims involving protected parties and approval hearings.

 

Prior to starting pupillage Oliver worked at a top-rated national law firm in the clinical negligence department. Oliver assisted in a range of high value and complex matters including surgical errors, delayed / missed diagnosis, birth injury, brain injury, and spinal injury.

Oliver also worked for a dental negligence firm guiding clients through the initial stages of their dental negligence claim.

Oliver has a growing practice in inquests work. He has represented families and other interested parties and is able to guide them through the process with clarity and empathy.

Some recent case examples include:

Representing a GP in relation to the death of an elderly man with dysphagia who died as a result of aspiration of food material, resulting in a hypoxic brain injury.

Representing the family of a six-month-old who died as a result of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Representing the family of a man who developed cellulitis and then sepsis following an infection at a cannula site. That caused multiple organ failure and death. The Coroner issued a prevention of future deaths report.

Oliver is regularly instructed on behalf of claimants and defendants in all aspects of personal injury litigation including:

  • Road traffic accidents
  • Public liability
  • Occupier’s liability
  • Employers’ liability

 

Oliver’s practice regularly involves working from the beginning of a claim through to settlement or trial. His work therefore includes attending conferences with clients and experts, drafting pleadings, advising on liability and quantum, and attending hearings.

Oliver is frequently instructed in credit hire cases, both for claimants and defendants. He is regularly instructed in small claims and fast track matters.

Oliver is well versed with the core issues including enforceability, need, impecuniosity, period, and rate. His recent instructions have included matters involving motorbikes and taxis.

Oliver regularly acts in cases in which fundamental dishonesty has been alleged and is being pursued at trial.
