Bharat commenced his specialist civil law pupillage in October 2021 under the supervision of Gemma Lieberman and Tim Wilkinson.
Before joining chambers, Bharat worked as a paralegal in a number of different firms, including as a catastrophic injury clinical negligence paralegal at a top ranked law firm focusing on brain and spinal cord injury cases. Bharat also worked as an in-house advocate at a leading international law firm carrying out hearings in county courts across the country.

Bharat also worked as an in-house advocate at a leading international law firm carrying out hearings in county courts across the country.
Bharat is well versed in all credit hire arguments. He predominantly acts for Defendants cross-examining Claimants on credit hire issues and persuasively makes submissions seeking reliance on BHR evidence. He is well used to reviewing bank account statements to seek debarring orders in relation to impecuniosity.
Bharat is also willing to represent Claimants in claims for credit hire, providing helpful and considered advice in conference whilst at Court.
Bharat has an established personal injury practice representing Claimants and Defendants in Multi-, Intermediate and Fast Track cases covering:
- Road Traffic Accidents;
- Employers’ Liability; and
- Public Liability including Highways Act and Occupiers’ Liability claims.
Bharat is often at Court attending interlocutory hearings (CCMC and allocation); applications involving procedural matters and representing parties at trial. Due to this busy court practice, he is well placed to advise on liability, draft pleadings and advise on quantum.

Bharat has a growing clinical negligence practice. He regularly advises on matters at an early stage, both on papers and in conference. He comprehensively explores issues relating to breach of duty and causation in conference with experts. He is then able to communicate those issues in a clear way to individuals, placing them in the best position to understand their claim. Bharat regularly settles pleadings and prepares Schedules of Loss.
Bharat has a strong foundation in clinical negligence having worked as a catastrophic injury paralegal at a top ranked law firm in The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners focusing on brain and spinal cord injury cases.

Bharat regularly appears in the Employment Tribunal for both preliminary and final hearings. He acts for both Claimants and Respondents and advises on prospects at an early stage of proceedings. He regularly attends open preliminary hearings dealing with matters of time limits; disability and employment status. He regularly also attends Judicial Mediation assisting parties in coming to agreeable terms in relation to disputes.

Gniwek v Forza Foods Limited (2025) – successfully representing the Respondent at a six-day final hearing dealing with unfair dismissal; automatic unfair dismissal and detriment claims following protected disclosures; wrongful dismissal; harassment and race and sex direct discrimination. Musgrove v Hartlepool College of Further Education (2025) – three-day trial where claims of detriment and automatic unfair dismissal for making protected disclosures and ordinary unfair dismissal were successfully dismissed. M v GI UK Ltd – acting for the Respondent in a Judicial Mediation, settling the claim for £180,000 as against a Schedule of Loss valued at £1.85million.
Martin and Others v Royal Mail Group (2024) – successfully representing four claimants in a five-day unfair dismissal claim. The dismissal was considered to be outside the band of reasonable responses and also procedurally unfair. Bramhall v Pathways 4 All Limited (2024) – five-day trial relating to a claim brought for automatic unfair dismissal following alleged protected disclosures being made contrary to section 103A Employment Rights Act 1996. Bharat has a growing inquests practice and is keen to develop this further. He regularly appears in coronial courts across the North East for both PIRH and at Inquest. Recent instructions include:
- Representing the family of a woman who died following complications of bariatric surgery.
- Representing the family of a man who died from natural causes which was contributed to from transfers between hospitals not being done sooner.
- Representing the Local Authority in a matter where a woman died after she was pushed over by another service user whilst in a care home.
- Representing a GP Practice at a PIRH where the individual had sadly died in a care home.
- Representing the family of a woman who died of natural causes in hospital. She was admitted following a hypoglycaemic attack from an incorrect prescription.
- Representing the family of a 61 year old male who died following complications of chondrosarcoma nasal surgery, including meningitis and CSF leak. Issues related to surgical technique and re-admission of the individual through emergency services.
- Pro-bono representation for the family of an 18 year old, who died following an overdose of non-prescription medication. The issues related to the risk assessments conducted by the Local Authority before placing the individual in temporary accommodation.
Bharat is willing to act on matters with Legal Aid funding and on a CFA where appropriate.
Bharat regularly appears in Court cross-examining Claimants in relation to matters such as exaggeration, causation and LVI. He skilfully makes submissions on fundamental dishonesty and individuals not coming to proof on their claims.
Given his experience acting for Defendants in cases of these type, he is adept in successfully representing Claimants, providing helpful and considered advice in conference whilst at Court.
This is a growing area of Bharat’s practice. He has had recent instructions for a range of interlocutory applications and directions hearings in this area for both Claimants and Defendants. Bharat is keen to grow this area of his practice.
Bharat is well-versed in dealing with costs matters, especially relating to costs in the Fast-Track and the various claims portals regularly advising solicitors’ firms in relation to costs recovery. Recent instructions include attending a Costs Appeal hearing before HHJ Gargan in Leeds County Court.
