We are delighted to announce the appointment of John Cleland as our new non-executive chairman.

John is an experienced non exec and takes up the position this month having previously spent more than 26 years at international law firm Pinsent Masons, where he was a partner and appointed as global managing partner from 2015 to 2023 before he retired.

John has since taken on a number of non-executive roles. He is chair of the board of trustees at Leeds-based charity St Anne’s Community Services, as well as at the Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation.

At Parklane Plowden, John will work alongside the head of chambers, executive board and senior management team as we press on with our strategic growth plans.

Commenting on the appointment, Elizabeth Hodgson, Head of Chambers said: “I am delighted to welcome John as our new non-executive chairman to support the next phase of our growth, and greatly looking forward to working with him.

“He brings a wealth of experience, having led a major international law firm, and a deep understanding of the legal market in which we operate, as well as a wider perspective of governance gained in his other non-executive roles.”

John Cleland added: “Parklane Plowden is an ambitious and progressive set, with real strength across its practice areas and I am excited to be taking on the role.

“As non-executive chairman, I look forward to working closely with all the teams as Parklane Plowden continues to develop for the benefit of its clients, its staff and its members.”
