Emma has wide ranging experience in medical law. She has acted in matters as diverse as orthopaedic, obstetric, brain and cosmetic claims. She has presented for the GMC is a regulatory setting and regularly cross examines experts at trial and she is adept at presenting the issues in a clear way to a jury or panel. In her previous practice, Emma was recognised as a leading barrister in cases involving sexual offences and which frequently involved medico-legal issues and for experts to appear at trial. Emma has a Masters degree in Medical Law and Ethics.
In motor fraud, Emma has acted at many trials for insurers where dishonesty is an issue. Emma was previously a criminal fraud barrister. She has been led and appeared alone in long trials concerning mortgage and VAT fraud and she is adept at managing complex disclosure and presenting it effectively at Court.
Emma's practice includes complex and valuable personal injury litigation. She has experience of the full range of injuries including brain, spinal, amputations and fatalities. Emma has also worked on multi-party actions including those arising out of product liability and accidents abroad.
Emma has acted for insurers across a broad range of policies, including motor, and where dishonesty is an issue. She has previously appeared in high profile fraud trials lasting many months in the criminal courts and her civil clients appreciate this breadth of expertise and aptitude for cross examination.
Emma also has expertise in issues of professional liability arising out of injury litigation.
