About

Rebecca is a specialist Family Law and Court of Protection barrister who became a tenant at Parklane Plowden in 2017 following completion of her pupillage.

Rebecca’s practice encompasses all areas of Family Law including private children, care proceedings and injunctive proceedings. Rebecca has experience of appearing at all levels including the High Court in lengthy and complex hearings.

Rebecca has particular expertise in Deprivation of Liberty Cases both in family proceedings in respect of children and within the Court of Protection and is able to offer advice and guidance for cases that may cross over between the two jurisdictions.

Rebecca has been involved in a number of High Court Cases involving disputed issues about jurisdiction and habitual residence within family law cases in both public and private law and has experience of successfully relocating a child to another jurisdiction.

Rebecca represents clients in all aspects of Court of Protection Health and Welfare matters and has experience of representing all parties from initial advice and applications to contested final hearings on capacity and welfare.

Rebecca is known for her attention to detail, hard-working nature, and client handling skills. Rebecca is passionate about representing vulnerable clients and children and ensuring they are able to fully participate in proceedings and feel they have a voice.

Rebecca is a forensic advocate who pays close attention to detail and provides practical and realistic advice focused on achieving the best outcomes for her clients.

Rebecca has an interest in promoting access and diversity to the legal profession and regularly participates in access initiatives.

Areas of Expertise

Public Law

Rebecca is regularly instructed in all areas of family practice, particularly public and private law children cases and proceedings under Part IV of the Family Law Act 1996.

She routinely represents all types of clients including Local Authorities, Parents, Guardians, Intervenors and other extended family members at all levels of the Family Court.

Rebecca has experience of non-accidental injury cases, lengthy fact-finding hearings, serious neglect, sexual abuse and domestic violence. Rebecca is known for her attention to detail, approachability and pragmatism.

Rebecca has a keen interest in cases concerning Deprivation of Liberty and she is happy to provide advice and representation and is particularly knowledgable regarding cases that have a cross over between the Court of Protection and Family Proceedings.

Private Law

Rebecca has experience of representing parents and children in a range of private law applications at all stages of proceedings.

She has experience of Family Law Act proceedings for non-molestation orders and occupation orders.

Rebecca is regularly instructed to represent clients in fact finding hearings and complex final hearings.

Rebecca focuses on cases involving Health and Welfare. She has acted for all parties (including P, lay respondents, CCGs and Local Authorities) in cases before all levels of the judiciary.

Rebecca is particularly experienced in section 21A applications, section 16 applications, final hearings and round table meetings between the parties.

Rebecca is an experienced advocate who has represented parties in contested final hearings on capacity and welfare decisions and is able to carefully balance pragmatic advice whilst also being alive to the sensitivities often involved in these proceedings.

Rebecca is known for her attention to detail, approachability and pragmatism.  Rebecca has experience of cases which involve a cross-over with the Family Court jurisdiction and she continues to expand her Court of Protection practice. Her expertise in the Family Court means that she has particular skills in assisting parties through the forensic evidential processes of fact finding cases.

Rebecca is willing to provide advice to clients at all stages of the process.
